The Books in Homes Primary Programme run in Terms 1, 2, and 4 each year. Schools receive the following books and resources.

A Preview Pack Students choose books from a Preview Pack of 48 titles which is delivered to the school at the beginning of the term. These titles are current and written in Australian Standard English. They include picture books, novels, non-fiction, drawing books, how-to-books, and Indigenous themed titles. |

Catalogues & Order Forms Every student will receive a colourful printed Book Catalogue at the beginning of each term. This Catalogue outlines the books on offer and is colour coded to reflect the 4 different reading levels. Choice is paramount although children should be encouraged to read beyond their comfort zone. |

Book Bags Each student will receive their books in a sturdy, waterproof book bag each term. This gives them a clean and private space to keep their books. |

Caught Being Good Books & Certificates This is an incentive/reward programme where students can earn extra books of choice for good behaviour. The Foundation sends out a number of extra books and an equal number of certificates to each participating school at the beginning of each term. It is left up to the discretion of the school staff to choose the lucky recipients. |

Books for Students Each participating student will choose 9 brand new books per year (3 books in Terms 1, 2 & 4). These are books that the children can take home and start building their own home libraries. |

Book Labels Each book chosen by students come with book labels emphasising choice and ownership. |

Competition Each term there is a reading comprehension competition which many teachers integrate into a classroom exercise. There are great prizes to be won and everyone who enters receives a Books in Homes Achievement Certificate. |
